How Can I Get Different IPs On My Craigslist Proxy?

For those who are going to setup their own Craigslist Proxy, making sure your IPs are from different C class IP ranges is something you should pay special attention to. It isn't a topic that is discussed often, but by not making sure you are using IPs on your proxy server from different C class IP ranges you are opening the door to be blocked by Craiglsist.

IPs are seperated into four ranges, A B C and D. These ranges are used to identify the network and network ID. Everyone on the internet is assigned an IP which is used to identify them while they are online. Most people know that by going offline and then back online you are able to change your IP, but most of the time the new IP your ISP gives you is still within the same range. This allows companies and other people to more easily identify your activities as even after changing your IP, it has not been changed to the extent that they are unable to make any connection between your old and new IP. It is more than possible that this is exactly what Craigslist uses as part of their system to filter out spam. Making sure your proxy server has IPs from different C class IP ranges helps to prevent this problem.

As already stated above, not changing your IP significantly may mean Craigslist is able to make a connection between two or more accounts you use to post on Craigslist with even after you change your IP (as the new IP you are assigned has not changed enough to make you look like a completely different user from somewhere else). Be sure that your proxy server is able to get IPs from different C class IP ranges to help avoid this problem. Generally speaking, IPs that are assigned to proxy servers are normally within the same C class range, try to make sure this is not the case for your proxy server. Anonymity is very important for anyone posting on Craigslist, be sure to ask about getting IPs on your Craigslist Proxy from different ranges.

How Many IPs Do I Need On My Craigslist Server?

There are two main things that impact the number of IPs you should setup with your proxy server. How much money you can spend on your proxy and just how many ads you would like to post on Craigslist play an important role. Not having enough IPs on your proxy obviously means you will be limited in the number of ads you can post. If you want to post a lot of ads buy as many IPs as your budget will allow you. Are you just going to post one or two ads on Craigslist a day? Or are you looking to post hundreds of ads everyday? For those who would be happy with just one or two ads, one IP on your proxy server would be more than enough. Anymore than this would be a waste of money and resources. However, for those who want to post a large quantity of ads, such as 100 a day, they should invest in between 5 to 10 IPs to start. A general rule of thumb is that for every 10 ads you want to post, you will need 1 IP. Using that rule you should be able to quickly figure out if you have enough IPs on your Craigslist proxy to safely post ads with.

Are Webproxies Good Craigslist Proxy?

Web proxies are a commonly known and used proxy resource. Their very name webproxy falsely leads people into believing that a webproxy can be used as a Craigslist proxy. However, this simply doesn't work. The main problem with webproxies is their lack of anonymity. If you want to post ads on Craigslist then this is something that is very important. As mentioned, webproxies are not anonymous and they do not hide the fact that they are a proxy. Since they do not attempt to hide or conceal the fact that they are web proxies, it is very easy for websites such as Craigslist to detect web proxies and ban any ads coming from them. Webproxies are easy to setup and usually free making people believe that they are a good and plentiful solution to post ads with on Craigslist. This obviously doesn't work and they quickly become frustrated. Even though free is good, webproxies and other free proxies simply do not work with Craigslist and the only real solution is to spend a few dollars on setting up and creating your own Craigslist proxy.

How to Use A Craigsist Proxy

Before we get started on learning how to use a Craigslist proxy, spend a minute to understand what a proxy server is.

A Craigslist proxy is a system that takes data or request from information from a user and passes this onto a server. In plain English this means that while you are using a proxy server you can download files, webpages and just about everything that you normally would while using the internet.

So, how should one best use a Craigslist proxy? It is very easy. Proxy server IPs come in numeric format, like 111.111.111.111.111. A Craigslist server allows you to cloak your true identity and IP from Craigslist thanks to its role of handling the transmission of data from Craigslist to you.. With the IP from your Craigslist proxy, just load up any internet web browsing application such as Firefox and place the IP into its settings.

It is strongly recommend that one should always post on Craigslist via a proxy server to remain anonymous. Understanding what a Craigslist server is and how to use one makes it easier for you to put more ads on Craigslist without worrying about getting caught.

Don't Abuse Your IPs with Ads

Craigslist is careful about how many ads you can post from an IP. You probably are interested in knowing how many ads they can post from one IP on their Craigslist proxy so as to avoid drawing any unwanted attention to their activites. There are quite a few different opinions on this and the answers vary a lot. In general, try to post somewhere from 10 - 20 ads from one IP each day. If you want you can try posting more than this but do so at your own risk, so it is recommended not to do so. Many people do infact post many ads from one IP each day, but eventually it causes problems with their IPs getting blocked. The quantity of IPs you have on your proxy server will also affect your posting method. Having only a few IPs means it makes sense to try and post as many ads as you can. Don't post a lot of ads from one IP all in a row. It is better to change your IP between posting ads. You need to do this to try and stop Craigslist from picking up that you are posting multiple ads.

Making Craigslist Ads Clickable

Beside using pictures, a good way to boost the traffic from Craigslist is to make it easy by creating a clickable ad. This can be done by making text or images on Craigslist clickable via hyperlink. Too easy right? Well, yes and no. I would recommend that you avoid linking straight to your main website. Instead, use a secondary site as a go between. Go from Craigslist to your disposable site and then redirect from your secondary site to your primary site. Just why do we need to do this? Simply because if you post too many ads on Craigslist and always use the same website link, there is a chance that Craigslist will eventually ban your site. If this happens, everytime you post ads on Craigslist with that blacklisted site the ad will be ghosted. So, avoid going straight from Craigslist to your main site. A few secondary websites is also recommended. By using a few secondary website addresses, you reduce the chance of Craigslist finding any pattern to your ads. Besides using your own Craigslist proxy, this is just another way that you can increase the amount of traffic, leads and hopefully money that you can generate from Craigslist.

Picking the Greatest Craigslist Proxy

Need a proxy server to post on Craigslist with but just not sure where to start? Here are some suggestions to put you on the right track.

* Make sure it is 100% anonymous - Typically, proxy sellers will state in bold letters that their proxies are 100% anonymous. Many use this as nothing more than a tactic to draw in customers. You can quickly check to see if they are telling the truth by going to http://www.whatismyipaddress.com and seeing what is displayed. If it detects that you are using a proxy, then it isn't anonymous and Craigslist will also be able to see you are using a proxy.
* Multiple IPs - For posting on Craigslist, you are definitely going to need more than one IP. Just one IP won't allow you to post enough. Check that the proxy provider has no problem with multiple IPs.
* FAST - Typically, you will find yourself using proxies that are so slow, you feel like jumping out a window. So slow in fact that you are wasting precious time. Surf around the internet and see how fast sites load up. Don't bother with anything higher than 400ms ping speeds.

I hope those tips help you in finding your very own and hopefully reliable Craigslist proxy.
